How we verify every therapist.
Before any therapist takes a single client on Healing Lounge, they complete a rigorous, transparent five-stage process. Here is exactly what that looks like.
Credential verification
Every applicant submits original degree certificates from recognised universities — Master's or higher in Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work. We verify directly with the issuing institution. Degrees from unaccredited programmes are rejected.
RCI registration check
Where applicable, we cross-check RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registration numbers against the official RCI database. Practising without valid RCI registration is a disqualifying condition for clinical roles on the platform.
Reference verification
We contact a minimum of two professional references directly — typically a clinical supervisor and a senior colleague. References are asked specific questions about clinical competence, ethical conduct, and cultural sensitivity.
Supervised mock session
Every applicant completes a supervised mock session observed by a senior Healing Lounge clinician. This evaluates therapeutic approach, cultural attunement, session structure, and how the therapist handles distress. Applicants who do not meet our standard are not onboarded.
Ongoing peer review
Verification does not end at onboarding. All therapists participate in quarterly peer review, are required to accumulate continuing professional development (CPD) hours each year, and are subject to immediate review if a client concern is raised.

The Healing Lounge verification framework was designed in consultation with licensed clinical psychologists and is reviewed annually. All mock session evaluations are conducted by senior clinicians with a minimum of 10 years of supervised practice experience.
How to report a concern
If you have a concern about a therapist's conduct, qualifications, or behaviour during a session, please contact our grievance officer. All reports are taken seriously and investigated within 7 working days.
